19 March 1940

Patrols continue to Saint-Inglevert with seven sorties.

On that date, Pilot Officer Michael M. Mudie was sent to his home for medical reasons. This permission, however, is not of any rest for him. He found himself in the midst of an incident, on 6 Apri, 1940, during a dance evening at the Coronation Hall in Kingston upon Thames. In this case, an altercation broke out between Michael M. Mudie and other members of the RAF following a dispute concerning his non-regulatory Buttons uniforms (he seems to carry those of the French Air Force). Michael Mudie opened fire with a gun. He is promptly taken to the Police station, in a slightly alcoholic state and slightly wounded by a bullet in his right leg. According to his defense, somewhat annoyed he would have drawn his pistol and fired two shots in the direction of the ground. One of the bullets then ricocheted and touched his leg. The incident does not seem, however, to have had any consequence and he returned shortly after to No.615 Squadron [1].
